The welcoming waters of Wrightsville Beach!

From Hunt's perspective, summer never seems complete without at least one visit to Wrightsville Beach...and I can agree with him. This year we packed up our almost 2 year old, 3 week old and our 6 year old furry friend and headed south. Hunt and I don't travel much because we simply don't enjoy making these treks but then again who does? I imagine that they will get better as the years progress but right now between feedings, diaper changes, dog walks and meal breaks-the trips seem longer than normal.

We met up with some great friends at the beach and we all laughed about how things change with a 2nd child. We never would have picked up with a 3 week old Harper and headed down to the beach, I don't think we had even left our house yet at 3 weeks with her. Like most people say "the 2nd is along for the ride".

We made it to the beach in great time and with little to no fuss from our peanut gallery. Hunt and I were surprised and more than thankful. We arrived to a set of excited grandparents and an aunt and uncle just waiting for the girls. They quickly wisked Harper away to see the ocean for the "real" 1st time (let's face it, they remember nothing from when they are 1.) We would have loved to have seen this beach curosity unfold but luckily for us, Gray was able to document this for us...
Wrightsville, always a great sight. It really is the beast beach in our mind.

Can you believe the sound of those waves?

Sand...and more Sand!

Harper feeling it between her toes with Grandmother Kat.

After a good nights rest Harper was ready, beach are you ready for her?

Harper managed to squeeze in tea time with Uncle Chris.

Check this out, the best of fashion, it's better than a SNUGGIE...the perfect towel and robe in one. Courtesy of Harpers great grandmother Jess. I wanted to bring them all (yes, there is more than one!) home but we had to leave them behind :(

Taking one of my few beach moments to enjoy just Harper...

Harper took it upon herself to abscond with someones shovel...we made sure it was returned promptly.

Me and my girl.

Harper decided it was her job to rid the beach of broken shells, one by one. We would try and get her to throw the broken ones out and she would just pick them right back up. We now have a nice collection of broken shells in our house.

What a devilish grin, she is going give us a run for our money...

One of the biggest musts of being a beach go-er...staying hydrated.

Playing with Kat

I love my sunglasses!
Dear Ocean,
Pls send us back the sunglasses that Harper loved that we lost in your waters....Harper really misses them.
The Heffners
One thing our swim class taught me...Harper has no fear of the water. WATCH OUT!

What a dad!

All these years I have watched Hunt love the water while I would read a book and bask in the sun. Now, the greatest part is watching him share his love of the water with our daughter.

Who doesn't love sitting on the chair in the water...Harper for sure does.

What did Reiss do while Harper was on the beach? A little of this...

and this...

and this...

and this...

and this... and repeat!

These girls look so different, we cannot wait to see how Reiss changes over the coming months...she seems to have her dads skin tone and here she still had hazel eyes but we think they are officially brown like her dads too. We are still waiting to see if the red eyebrows change. So far the "jury" thinks that Harper has my coloring and Hunts features and Reiss has Hunts coloring and my features...genetics what a funny thing!

Look at this cutie dad and his little girl! What a pair!
Harper found a new playing spot for when the sun was at its brightest. Who knew that a bucket and a hose could be so fun...
On our second to last day, we took a beach break and decided to try out the North Carolina Aquarium. We had so much fun. Harper loved the "touch tank" and the shark teeth. The biggest impression was made by "Luna" the albino alligator which we failed to document on camera but we did get a picture of how Reiss could be a bite-size snack to an alligator.

Harper crashed in the car on the way over so she was a little sleepy taking in the aqaurium with Aunt Gray.
Learning to fly at the beach!

Footprints in the sand...new meaning.

Still the cutest feet we have seen!

Harper showing Reiss how fun the water and sand is...

One of our first family pictures...wind blown or not...we love it.
